Fuel

There are different things that fuel (motivate) people.  I've read that Peter Reid always raced better when something pissed him off...and I can definitely see how that would be true, though that is short lived because should you really be angry that often?

I've read and heard of some interesting happenings lately, some things that I was looking for to help fuel me, others that aren't directed at anything, but I find interesting.  It's always nice to have that "fuel" so to speak...the key is not burning through all of it too early (which I think I've done in the past).  So instead I'm focusing my attention elsewhere, yep a house remodel would be where the focus is now.  I always have time to get back to swim/bike/run stuff.

I will say I'm loving the new Zoot running gear that I got...the stuff is super warm, and so very comfortable, totally the best sponsor ever!!

Fog

The fog has taken over Chicago, and I'm not going to lie it's kind of cool.  Except for the fact that you can't see where you're driving/riding.  There have  been some interesting pieces of writing that I've been reading lately and it's be reassuring to me.  Very simple concepts, and simple to put into practice.

Hopefully this fog lifts so that I can get a ride in with some of the L3 Endurance crew...while more of them are coming for some threshold tests today.  L3 Endurance is rolling, it's exciting and growing, let me know if you want more information!

Here's a little motivation to keep things "Rollin"...

K.I.S.S.

I think triathletes (and most people for that matter) are all looking for the easy way to accomplish their goals.  Now I can't say that I blame them, why not right?  But when it comes down to accomplishing goals I think there is one way to go about it.  KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!  The motto for L3 Endurance is "Work Works" and it's pretty simple really...without putting in the work you're not going to meet your goal.  Prior to Kona I didn't put in the work...therfore had a subpar performance.  I have to live with that on a daily basis...well at least until I get to race again to redeem myself which is a LONG ways away.

So in the meantime I'm going to have to deal with that last race and plug along to fix that in the future.  There is some exciting news on the horizon though...so stay tuned!

Progress is a Slow Thing

So the bathroom project continues...but I think that things will be rolling along quicker soon.  Most of it is framed out, lights have been picked out and purchased, old galvanized pipes have been changed to copper (and note to self...don't forget to sweat 1 pipe...it creates a mess and a lot more work), vanity is complete (thanks to my Dad)...so things are rolling along.  Hopefully I'll be able to see some solid progress after this week.

Besides that things are pretty chill, not much going on from the training front.  Still trying to figure out what the plan for next year is going to be.  Thinking a lot of fun, and some different things...what those are I'm not sure.  But I'm guessing many more things that involve dirt and trails (which we don't have many of around here).

Plugging Away...

The sun was out on my ride to school today which was very welcome!  I do much better when I see the sun, I don't care how cold it is really as long as it's sunny.  And if it's going to be cloudy it might as well rain or snow...I hate gloominess!

Anyway thanks to Nick my belt drive 29er is back in action as my commuter bike, which I'm pretty pumped about.  It's nice to ride to and from work looking for gravel, and things to run over.  Strange...maybe but that's me.

Life's been pretty busy lately, but I've been able to give my Zoot kicks some work every so often which is nice.  Keating and I decided that Friday's at masters swim it would be "Flashback Friday"...meaining it's time to break out the speedo's.  I'm not going to lie it is a lot faster to swim in a speedo as opposed to a drag suit.

Pumped for the weekend, hopefully I'll make some more progress on the bathroom remodel.

Nothing Flashy...

Sorry about the absence on the blog.  Since we've arrived home from Hawaii it's been busy with a variety of different things.  I took some down time, which is the first time I've done that in a few years.  It felt weird, I got crabby, motivated, and my mind went a million different directions (which gets really scary!!).

So after about a two and a half week break I decided it was time to get back on the horse.  I had a lot of time to think and reflect back on the 2012 season.  I can't complain.  I didn't race much, but when I did I made it count (well most of the time). 3 Ironman races of which there were 2 Kona Qualifying performances and the 3rd performance (although not my best) in Kona, not a bad way to spend 5 months.

I'm looking forward to getting back to work, tackling some home remodel projects (of which I only have one fully functioning bathroom right now...and it's pretty ghetto), and most importantly helping Brit plan our wedding.

The theme for 2013 was today's title..."Nothing Flashy" and that's the plan, I don't plan on doing anything crazy...just trying to stay consistent day in and day out to put the work in.

Work Works.
